Stop Trying to Manipulate Me

Dear Internet user,

this post aims at warning you about the attempts of the current Government of Catalonia and some groups of the independence movement to manipulate you. They are trying to create an international feeling that Spain is a sort of tyranny and oppressive country, and they are doing it by spreading impacting contents through the Social Media.

It has to be acknowledged their great ability to create impressive contents that stoke people sensitivity, and to master social media and communication means to spread those contents, by contracting specialised communication lobbies with the money that initially had been budgeted for other general and social purposes.

However, the fact of being able to take a message to a big audience does not not imply that the message is true. What it is even worst is that those contents contain deliberately a lot of lies, and manipulations of the language, taking advantage of some well known characteristic and behaviour of the human brain that have traditionally been used by advertisements to influence on people´s opinion towards a certain product or brand.

I invite you to learn about the other side of the story, about what it has been really happening in Catalonia in the last months, how a majority of its citizens and the rest of citizens of Spain are feeling, and to find out the contradictions and manipulations in the messages of the separatists. Maybe you empathise more with them because of your personal thoughts and likes. Maybe not. But please, be sure your opinion is based on truths and not lies.

The most impressive the message seems to be, the most likely it is trying to manipulate you.
